SOWELA Technical Community College is offering, for a limited time, complimentary access to online customer service training for those interested in the Hospitality Industry in Southwest Louisiana. This is an opportunity to sharpen your customer service skills and boost your resumes. The training curriculum is provided through the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), a globally-recognized provider of hospitality and tourism training.

The Guest Service Gold training is self-paced. Typically it takes the student approximately two hours overall to complete. SOWELA is offering this professional development opportunity on a first-come, first-serve basis so we encourage you to register soon. This complimentary training offer expires on June 20, 2020.

Certified Guest Service Professional

Just as one bad apple can spoil the bunch, one negative online review can spoil your business’s chances of attracting new guests. And for tourism destination, such as Southwest Louisiana, it can be even worse, resulting in negative feedback about an entire city or region. The reputations of hotels, museums, resorts, restaurants and even taxi service contribute to a destination’s profile.

You have two options for your training (see below). Both trainings will prepare you for the Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP) Exam. The CGSP exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions that must be answered in one hour. You must achieve a minimum score of 70% to earn the CGSP certificate. Recognized worldwide, the CGSP is the highest acknowledgement of guest service excellence for hospitality and tourism employees.

Option One:

Guest Service Gold Golden Opportunities: This training is focused on providing customer service in the hotel and lodging settings. Golden Opportunities demonstrates how to provide a level of guest service that leaves a lasting impression on each of your guests, inspires your co-workers and enhances your job satisfaction.

Option Two:

Guest Service Gold Tourism: This training addresses the guest service needs of the tourism business. All hospitality employees, to include museums, restaurants, resorts, transportation providers and hotels will learn the seven key elements of delivering superior service that keep guests raving about your destination.
