Spring 2022 Late Enrollment Opens Today at All SOWELA Locations

Late Registration for All Courses and Programs Is Open Until Thursday, January 20, 2022

(Lake Charles, Louisiana – January 12, 2022)

Spring 2022 late registration is now open for interested students at SOWELA for all technical and academic programs and at all three of the regional community college’s locations in Southwest Louisiana. SOWELA is currently offering online options, hybrid options and in-person options dependent on course availability and requirements. SOWELA’s main campus is in Lake Charles with sites in Jennings, Oakdale and the recently acquired Lamar Salter Campus in Leesville. The late registration window will close on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

SOWELA continues to follow the recommendations from the CDC for COVID-19 precautions. At the start of the Spring 2022 semester on Tuesday, January 18, mask usage will be mandated at all SOWELA locations. Social distancing and enhanced hygiene practices, including handwashing and use of sanitizer and disinfecting wipes, are still strongly encouraged.

SOWELA Foundation scholarships are available for those that qualify. In the 2020-2021 academic year, 436 students received a scholarship with an average scholarship award of $1,287. All new and current SOWELA students are encouraged to complete a scholarship application. Financial aid assistance is also available.

SOWELA offers more than 30 technical and academic programs including Practical Nursing, Machine Tool Technology, Culinary Arts, Drafting and Design Technology, Surgical Technology, Accounting Technology and Forest Technology.
