(Lake Charles, LA) — SOWELA Technical Community College will host a Dual Enrollment and Homeschool Information Session at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, for public, private and homeschool students interested in earning college credit while still in high school. The event will be held in the Sycamore Student Center, 3824 Sen. J. Bennett Johnston Ave., Lake Charles, LA 70615.
The informational session is designed to help students and families explore how dual enrollment can provide an affordable head start on college while strengthening academic and career readiness. Attendees will learn about available courses, transfer pathways, admission requirements and career-focused academic programs. Students and families will also have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, ask questions and tour select program areas across campus.
SOWELA offers several dual enrollment options and works with each student to identify opportunities that best align with their academic interests and career goals. Because SOWELA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, many credits earned through dual enrollment can transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Students can complete affordable general education courses at SOWELA and potentially reduce the overall cost and time required to earn a bachelor’s degree.
