Prospective Students and Their Families are Invited to Tour the College and Explore Scholarship and Financial Aid Opportunities

SOWELA Oakdale will host its first open house on Thursday, April 11. The open house will run from 4:00-6:00 PM and is open to the public. Prospective students and their families can learn more about the SOWELA Oakdale location, including available programs close to home, scholarship and financial aid options, how to register and take a tour.
The Oakdale location offers five technical and academic programs, including Business Administration, Industrial Electrical Technology, Industrial Instrumentation Technology, Practical Nursing, and Welding. Culinary Arts and Criminal Justice are available online, as are free Adult Education classes.
New to SOWELA Oakdale is the Industrial Electrical Technology degree. According to the Louisiana Workforce Commission, a typical salary for an industrial electrician is $32/hour with opportunities for overtime and an increase in salary with experience. The program prepares individuals to install, troubleshoot and repair wiring, electrical equipment and other electrical devices used in the industrial environment.
