Students Will Explore Career Opportunities and Programs Available in Jeff Davis Parish
(JENNINGS, LOUISIANA) – SOWELA Morgan Smith in Jennings, LA, will host 400 Jeff Davis Parish high school students, along with their counselors and teachers, on Wednesday, February 4, and Thursday, February 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day for the College’s annual Flying Tiger for A Day event.
“Faculty, staff and students at SOWELA Morgan Smith are excited to host our area high school students and showcase the various programs available for dual enrollment and post-secondary education,” said SOWELA Morgan Smith Site Coordinator Adrienne Abel.
High school students will tour the Jennings site, meet with faculty and staff and learn about available scholarship and financial aid opportunities. They will also visit the Career Exploration trailer, a one stop shop for career resources. New to the site is expanded lab space for the Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing programs.
SOWELA Morgan Smith offers seven on-campus programs, including Industrial Electrical, Industrial Instrumentation, Practical Nursing (LPN), Sterile Processing, Surgical Technology and Welding. Online programs include Business Administration, Culinary Arts and Criminal Justice. Free adult education classes are available to individuals seeking a high school equivalency diploma, as well as WorkReadyU courses designed to support college and workforce transitions.
