SOWELA Hosts Spring Commencement


Lake Charles, Louisiana – May 9, 2019

SOWELA Technical Community College is holding the spring commencement ceremony on Tuesday, May 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Lake Charles Civic Center Coliseum. Approximately 306 students are eligible to graduate and receive degrees or diplomas, or participate as completers in the Workforce Solutions programs.

Graduation includes the United States Army conducting a Presentation of Colors and Ms. Latricia Thierry singing the National Anthem. Dr. Kim Hunter Reed, Louisiana Commissioner of Higher Education, will serve as the commencement speaker.

Two SOWELA alumni members will participate in this year’s ceremony: Ms. Leslie Harless, a 1970 graduate, and Mr. Noah Duhon, a 2018 graduate.
