SOWELA Hosts Sixth Annual Women in Non-Traditional Careers Seminar

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – March 23, 2018

SOWELA Technical Community College is hosting its Sixth Annual Women in Non-Traditional Careers Seminar on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Arts & Humanities Building, Multipurpose Room 145. Representatives from area businesses and industry will present information on non-traditional career opportunities available to women in Southwest Louisiana.

“This seminar allows women of all ages and all walks of life to interact with other women who have forged a personal path into a non-traditional career. It allows attendees to see themselves in the presenters, as they too have overcome obstacles to achieve their goals,” said Barbara Forsythe, Career Coach.

In addition, attendees seeking employment will learn how to begin their career in a high-demand job and discover the steps required to apply for financial aid and gain admission to SOWELA. Presenters from companies such as Sasol, Phillips 66, Calcasieu Business and Career Solutions Center, CB&I, CITGO, SOWELA and others will be available for a question and answer session following the presentation.

The seminar is free and open to the public for women of any age. Reservations are not required. For information, contact SOWELA at (337) 421-6983 or email barbara.forsythe@sowela.edu.
