SOWELA Technical Community College is holding the fall commencement ceremony on Friday, December 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Lake Charles Civic Center Coliseum. Approximately 230 students are eligible to graduate and receive degrees or diplomas, or participate as completers in the Economic and Workforce Development programs.
Graduation includes the United States Army conducting a Presentation of Colors, Ms. Jennifer Ryan singing the National Anthem, and Rev. Weldon Bares offering the invocation. Mayor Nicholas Hunter, City of Lake Charles, will serve as the commencement speaker.
Two SOWELA alumni members will participate in this year’s ceremony: Ms. Patricia Stroderd, a 2017 graduate, and Ms. Chloe Friend, a 2015 graduate.
