SOWELA Holds Two Weeks of Virtual Learning for Spring 2021 Semester

Students Begin Classes Online January 19th and Return to On-Campus Instruction February 1st

SOWELA’s Spring 2021 semester will begin on Tuesday, January 19.  Due to the potential of increased exposure to COVID-19 from holiday gatherings, the College will implement a “Safe Start” period during the first two weeks of the semester.  During this two week “Safe Start” period, only virtual/on-line classes will be offered  to help ensure the health and safety of SOWELA students, faculty, and staff. Classes originally scheduled in the face-to-face format will resume on campus Monday, February 1.

The first few weeks of the semester is an exciting and vital time for students. Virtual learning will help us facilitate critical instruction necessary to lay the foundation for coursework this semester. Those returning to face-to-face instruction on Monday, February 1, should plan to do so with COVID-19 protocol in place. Students unable to attend scheduled on-campus classes on February 1 should contact their instructors or dean.

SOWELA will continue to offer laptops and hotspots to any student in need of technology equipment. Students can request equipment at https://www.sowela.edu/about/updates/coronavirus/. For students needing to renew their laptops and hotspot devices, they can complete the following renewal form: stcc.formstack.com/forms/student_laptop_loan_renew.

Prospective students still have time to enroll in the Spring 2021 semester. Those interested in registering can contact the One Stop Enrollment Office at onestop@sowela.edu or call (337) 421-6550 for information. Students should monitor the online learning management system Canvas and their SOWELA email for updates from instructors.
