Scholarships Cover 100% of Tuition and Fees for Eligible New Students in SOWELA’s Industrial Programs
(LAKE CHARLES, La.) — The SOWELA Foundation announced a more than $149,000 investment from Sempra Infrastructure to continue a fund supporting student scholarships. Recipients must be enrolled in Chemical Laboratory, Industrial Electrical, Industrial Instrumentation or Process Technology, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, start at SOWELA in Fall 2026 and be a graduating senior from Hackberry, Sulphur or South Beauregard High Schools.
“One of the major strengths of SOWELA is the relationships we have established with our business/industry partners,” said SOWELA Chancellor Dr. Neil Aspinwall. “The strong partnership between SOWELA and Sempra Infrastructure is an excellent example of how industry and education can work together to provide the resources, training and support students need to successfully complete their programs of study. SOWELA is fortunate to have partners such as Sempra Infrastructure who have a vested interest in ensuring that Southwest Louisiana has a highly skilled and qualified workforce.”
The scholarship recipients were recognized recently at a kickoff ceremony at SOWELA. Honorees include Austen Landry, Bear LeDoux, Jacob Trosclair, Gavin Burnett, Logan Busby, Isaiah Lampton, Ethan LeBlanc, Brennan Ewing, Logan Drounett, Taylor Broxton. The scholarship is valued at $4,265 and can be renewed each year.

This marks the second consecutive year Sempra Infrastructure has contributed to SOWELA scholarships, bringing their total investment to over $249,000 and providing 20 students with a world-class education.
