Scholarships Cover 100% of Tuition and Fees for Eligible New Students in SOWELA’s Industrial Programs
Lake Charles, Louisiana – Tuesday, March 25
The SOWELA Foundation today announced a $100,000 investment from Sempra Infrastructure to establish a scholarship fund to support student scholarships in Chemical Laboratory, Industrial Electrical, Industrial Instrumentation and Process Technology. Individuals must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, start at SOWELA in Fall 2025 and be a graduating senior from Sulphur or South Beauregard High School.
“The strength and success of SOWELA is directly related to the relationships we form with our business/industry partners,” said SOWELA Chancellor Dr. Neil Aspinwall. “The strong collaborative partnership that exists between SOWELA and Sempra Infrastructure has helped the College achieve our mission of workforce development. This $100K investment directly benefits our great asset — our students. These funds will be used to help make the cost of achieving higher education more affordable therefore making it more attainable.”
Up to 10 graduating seniors will be awarded the full-ride scholarships, covering tuition and fees, for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. The scholarship is valued at $4,265 and can be renewed each year.

Each program helps students gain the necessary skills to be successful in industry-related occupations. Faculty members engage students with hands-on assignments and cutting-edge technology to help foster an effective learning environment. From pathway opportunities such as the 16-week Process Technology Fast Track program to the intricate labs of Industrial Electrical, Machine Tool and Chemical Laboratory sample analysis, SOWELA prepares students for high-demand, high-wage, fulfilling careers.
SOWELA offers a variety of financial aid and scholarship opportunities to those who qualify. The SOWELA Foundation scholarship application is available at www.sowela.edu/scholarships. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required, and all SOWELA students are encouraged to apply by the priority date of April 1 for the Fall 2025 semester.
