Graduate to be Honored at Dual Graduate Breakfast at the College

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – May 8, 2019

A SOWELA Technical Community College dual enrollment student will graduate this Spring with both his high school diploma and a college degree. Ty Picard will graduate with an associate degree in Business Administration and with a high school diploma as a home school student.

Picard will be honored at a Dual Graduate Breakfast on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. in The Landing at the Charleston Building. Chancellor Dr. Neil Aspinwall and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Dr. Paula Hellums will present Picard with a medal for his dual graduate achievement.

Several dual enrollment programs are available at the College allowing students the opportunity to earn college credit while completing their high school studies. Programs include the Senior Technical Education Program (STEPS), which is geared toward a career and technical education, or Senior Transfer Academy Increasing Readiness (STAIRS), a program for high school students interested in pursuing a four-year degree upon graduation. SOWELA’s dual enrollment programs are available to public, private and homeschooled high school students in Southwest Louisiana.
