Choose from Pipefitting, Forklift and OSHA and Construction Safety Training with Scholarships Available for Those Who Qualify

SOWELA’s Office of Workforce Solutions is now registering for multiple short-term training courses this fall. Scholarships are available for those who qualify, and registration is open on a first-come, first-serve basis. A limited number of training seats are available for each program, held at SOWELA’s Main Campus in Lake Charles, LA.
Pipefitting Training: Students learn the skills needed to become a pipefitter, including safety principles and tools, as well as the basic concepts of installation and repair of high- and low-pressure pipe systems used in manufacturing, the generation of electricity and the heating and cooling of buildings. Successful completers earn two certificates, NCCER Core and a Pipefitting Certification of Completion. The 12-week class begins Wednesday, November 1, and meets Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The cost is $2,500.
OSHA and Construction Safety: The four-day class prepares students to certify for OSHA and NCCER Core: Construction Site Safety certifications. Class begins Monday, November 6, and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-9:00 PM. The cost is $50.
Forklift Training: A one-day class for individuals wanting to learn the proper forklift operating techniques. The training is available on Monday, October 30, or Tuesday, October 31, from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Students receive a certificate of completion, and the cost is $50.
