Shankle Receives SOWELA’s Customer Service Star Award

Lake Charles, Louisiana – December 17, 2018

Dr. David Shankle, School of Business & Applied Technology Dean at SOWELA Technical Community College, received the Customer Service Star Award for the Fall 2018 semester at the Annual Holiday Luncheon. SOWELA’s Customer Service Committee selects award winners from nominations submitted by faculty and staff of the College.

Those nominating Shankle stated, “he is an outstanding example of what a college Dean/Professor should be. He has an open-door policy and you can approach him at any time with any question, and he will go out of his way to find the answer. He is clearly an outstanding professional, mentor, teacher, colleague and leader.”

“Dr. David Shankle embodies customer service – he is always willing to lend a hand, regardless of the task. He is very professional in his approach and can usually be found serving others in his leadership role at the College. Dr. Shankle has earned the respect and support of his colleagues and students and is very deserving of this recognition,” said Dr. Paula Hellums, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs.


SOWELA Technical Community College provides traditional, distance, and lifelong learning experiences and awards associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificates. The College empowers learners in career and technical education and enables transfer students to pursue a four-year degree so all learners excel as globally competitive citizens.
