Program Description

The mission of the School of Transportation and Applied Technologies is to educate and nurture students to become lifelong learners, who are technically competent, socially conscious, and globally competitive in an ever-changing workforce. STAT upholds the tradition of SOWELA by being faithful to its historical commitment to training an ethical workforce.

The purpose of the Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies degree program is to provide students pursuing education in a technical field opportunity to seamlessly transition from an associate degree to a baccalaureate degree with maximum credits awarded.

In addition to the General Education Core, students in the Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies program must complete a Technical Diploma in one of SOWELA's programs of study. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

Carpentry
Forest Technology
Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technology
Welding

For students to earn the Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies degree, they must complete the required 15 credit hours in General Education.
