Krewe of Athena Supports SOWELA Graphic Art Student

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – May 21, 2018

The Krewe of Athena recently presented the “Tracy Beaugh Rising Star Award” to Victoria (Torri) Lasha for the Spring 2018 semester at SOWELA Technical Community College. The Krewe created the award in honor and remembrance of the College’s former faculty member, Tracy Beaugh, in the Department of Graphic Art.

The Krewe awards $500 each semester to a Graphic Art student based on a selection process. Tracy was a Founding Member of the Krewe of Athena, and served as Vice President of Public Relations for nine years and as Captain in 2009. She was also an active member of the Krewe of Cosmos and the Ad and Press Club, and received many awards and accolades for her designs.

Tracy graduated from LaGrange High School and SOWELA and resided in Sulphur for many years. “My mom was a perfectionist and loved what she did,” said daughter Jessica Beaugh. “I know she would be pleased that she is still assisting students at SOWELA in achieving their dreams and loving it.”
