International Students

International students bring cultural diversity to SOWELA and are welcomed to the student body. At this time, SOWELA is admitting international students with an F-1 or M-1 visa status only. An F-1 or M-1 student must be enrolled as full-time and is not permitted to work during the course of studies. The F-1 or M-1 student must have evidence that sufficient funds are immediately available to pay all tuition and living costs for the entire period of intended stay. In order for SOWELA to issue the SEVIS form I-20 applicants must:
  1. Complete the online application for admission.
  2. Meet the entrance requirements on the ACT/ACCUPLACER, or score 450 or higher on the paper/pencil Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam or a 133 on the computerized TOEFL.
  3. Provide additional documentation including a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship, proof of completion of high school, an affidavit of support and proof of immunization. All documents must be in English or accompanied by certified translations in English.
