Badly damaged by one of the most powerful hurricanes to ever hit the Gulf Coast, the SOWELA Foundation has established the Hurricane Laura Disaster Relief Fund to aid the College’s 4,000 students, faculty, and staff, many of whom lost everything when Hurricane Laura ripped through Southwest Louisiana with winds of 150 mph on August 27, 2020.
The fund will provide immediate and long-term recovery assistance in the aftermath of the devastating storm which badly damaged many of the 13 school buildings on the college’s sprawling main campus in Northeast Lake Charles. SOWELA’s two satellite campuses in Jennings and Oakdale also received minor damage.
You, too, can make a direct impact on the students, faculty and staff at SOWELA. Click the link below to donate online to the Hurricane Laura Relief Fund.
