A Fundraising Competition between SOWELA Sites Benefits Student Scholarships through the SOWELA Foundation
LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – November 9, 2018
SOWELA Technical Community College faculty and staff are celebrating National Philanthropy Day with SOWELA’s Week of Giving November 12-16, 2018. The event is a week-long faculty and staff competition between each site of the College to see who can generate the most givers: Jennings, Lake Charles, or Oakdale. Students and the community are welcome to participate.
Dollars raised from SOWELA’s Week of Giving go toward SOWELA Foundation student scholarships for the site in which they’re donated. The site that raises the most in scholarship funds receives a BBQ lunch sponsored by Lake Charles Toyota.
In addition, an online silent auction for a Saints Platinum package valued at $2,500 is running through Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018 at 9 a.m. at https://www.biddingOwl.com/SOWELATechnicalCommu. The package sponsored by CBS17 includes two lower-level game tickets for the Saints vs. Philadelphia matchup; two-night stay at the Courtyard by Marriott; free breakfast buffet; Welcome Party with food and drinks; round trip transfers from the game to the hotel. All proceeds from the silent auction also benefit student scholarships through the SOWELA Foundation.
