SOWELA Spring 2024 Service Star Recipient Announced
Lake Charles, Louisiana – May 28, 2024
Dr. Marie Coleman, School of Business and Applied Technology Dean at SOWELA Technical Community College, received the Customer Service Star Award for the Spring 2024 semester at the annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon earlier this month.
Those nominating Coleman stated, she “demonstrates professionalism, integrity and commitment in her interactions with employees, students and staff. She balances accountability, compassion, grace and discipline well. She uses her perceptive personality to understand her employees and capitalize on their strengths, aligning those gifts with course content allocation, committee assignments and personal growth conversations.”
Coleman has worked at SOWELA since 2016 and was previously a Business Instructor at SOWELA before being promoted to dean. She recently worked with faculty to develop the new Paralegal Studies Concentration and Culinary Medicine program both of which will launch this fall at SOWELA.
SOWELA’s Customer Service Star Committee selects award winners from nominations submitted by faculty and staff of the College. The award is given to an outstanding faculty or staff member each spring and fall.
