Congratulations on registering for your SOWELA classes. Now it’s time to obtain your textbooks. SOWELA has a bookstore (opens new window) to offer students a convenient means to purchase textbooks. The bookstore carries all textbooks and supplies that are needed for SOWELA courses.
Students receiving financial aid may purchase textbooks and/or supplies through a student financial aid account in the bookstore. Learn more about this option below.
Electronic Book Voucher Option for Financial Aid Students
SOWELA has a process to allow financial aid recipients to purchase books prior to the receipt of Pell grant funds. This new process makes it more convenient for students to obtain the books they need for class. After registration, go to your LoLA (opens new window) account and view the “Account Detail by term” to confirm your financial aid eligibility. You will receive an email Message from our office once your file has been awarded.
If you were awarded financial aid, and your aid award exceeds the cost of tuition and fees, you may use this amount to purchase books online. The amount available to purchase books is the difference between the financial aid awarded and the total amount due for tuition and fees for the term. You may use this amount as an electronic book voucher for your books online or during our onsite SOWELA bookstore dates.
The electronic book voucher (the amount available to purchase books after tuition and fees) will be available approximately two weeks before the semester begins and will expire 10 days into the semester. All start and end dates will be posted each semester along with the dates the SOWELA bookstore will be onsite.
The total amount purchased at the SOWELA bookstore will be charged directly to your student account and will be deducted from your financial aid award. If a student becomes ineligible for financial aid or financial aid is reduced, the student will be responsible for re-payment of any book voucher charges.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Student must be registered in the semester in which the book voucher is requested.
- Student must have completed all required documents requested by the Financial Aid Office 10 days prior to the start of classes.
- Student must be meeting satisfactory academic progress standards.
- Student must have no outstanding prior balance.
- Student must have financial aid that exceeds their institutional charges.
Please note any student may opt out of using this voucher, no notification is necessary. Your student account will not be charged any book related fees should you decide not to use the voucher.
