The mission of the Aviation Maintenance Technology program is to provide a teacher-learning environment that will prepare students for certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in airframe and powerplant mechanics. The certification process consists of three separate tests detailing the General, Airframe, and Powerplant sections. In addition, three separate oral and practical tests are administered by an FAA designated examiner. Upon successful completion of the three tests, the graduate is awarded the FAA and the A & P Mechanic Certificate.

The Aviation Maintenance Technology program provides a safe and healthy environment for learning, encourages students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners and attempts to establish relationships with students and employers that promote upgrading of skills for continued advancement in the field.
