Louisiana College

Louisiana College General Transfer Articulation Agreement

SOWELA Technical Community College and Louisiana College entered into this agreement for the purpose of ensuring acceptance of college coursework between institutions and to further facilitate the transfer of SOWELA students who satisfy the criteria outlined in this agreement. SOWELA transfer students awarded an associate degree, as outlined in the agreement, will be guaranteed admission at junior standing. SOWELA transfer students without an associate degree, but obtaining a minimum of 30 transferrable units as defined in the agreement will be guaranteed admission at an appropriate standing.

Louisiana Tech University

Louisiana Tech University Transfer Articulation Agreement – Bachelor of Science in Forestry

This agreement facilitates the transfer of students earning a diploma in Forest Technology at SOWELA to the Bachelor of Science in Forestry at Louisiana Tech University (LA TECH). Through collaborative efforts, LA TECH and SOWELA will afford students the opportunity to earn a high-quality degree from both institutions in the most efficient manner possible.

Any student who has attained the Forest Technology Technical Diploma at SOWELA will be admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Forestry at LA TECH with status of acceptance into the summer forestry program, subject to the provisions listed in the agreement.

McNeese State University

McNeese State University Reverse Transfer Agreement

Reverse transfer is the process by which transfer students enrolled at McNeese transfer credits back to SOWELA for the purpose of attaining a degree, diploma, or certification. SOWELA transfer students indicate their interest to McNeese in applying credits earned at McNeese toward the completion of their associate degree, diploma, or certification at SOWELA. By doing so, the student agrees to have his/her McNeese transcript sent back to SOWELA. SOWELA will then evaluate this coursework to determine if degree, diploma, or certification requirements have been met.

The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate the implementation of an initiative to assist students who have transferred to McNeese in completing a credential (certificate, diploma, or associate degree) at SOWELA. This initiative is an extension of the transfer agreement already in place between SOWELA and McNeese and applies to SOWELA students who have earned at least 18 credit hours at SOWELA prior to transferring to McNeese.

McNeese State University Transfer Articulation Agreement – Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Criminal Justice

This agreement between SOWELA and McNeese was established to facilitate articulation of the Associate of Art Louisiana Transfer (AALT) with a concentration in Social Science offered at SOWELA to the Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice offered at McNeese.

McNeese State University Transfer Articulation Agreement – Bachelor of Arts in Art

This agreement between SOWELA and McNeese was established to facilitate transfer articulation for students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Digital Arts and Communication (formerly Graphic Art) at SOWELA into the Bachelor of Arts in Art program at McNeese. SOWELA students must meet McNeese admission requirements.

SOWELA transfer student who have completed the AAS in Digital Arts and Communication (formerly Graphic Art), with at least 12 credit hours in art studio courses, may have advanced placement credit awarded by demonstrating competencies that are comparable to learning outcomes in art courses offered by McNeese.

McNeese State University Transfer Articulation Agreement – Bachelor of Science with a major in Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, or General Business Administration

Upon completion of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in General Business from SOWELA Technical Community College, up to 57 credits can be transferred and applied towards a bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, or General Business Administration from the College of Business at McNeese State University.

Nicholls State University

Nicholls State University Transfer Articulation Agreement – Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts

This agreement allows students who have completed the Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts (AASCA) program at SOWELA to transfer credit hours to Nicholls in the Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts (BSCA) program. The BSCA program at Nicholls requires the completion of 120 credit hours. SOWELA students who have completed designated courses will be granted 39 credit hours towards the bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts at Nicholls provided all grade and GPA requirements established by the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, the College of Nursing and Allied Health, and the University have been met and the student has earned the AASCA degree. To participate in this program, SOWELA students must meet all transfer admission requirements established by Nicholls State University.

Northwestern State University of Louisiana

Northwestern State University of Louisiana Transfer Articulation Agreement – Bachelor of Science in Nursing

This agreement serves to facilitate transfer of students desiring to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at Northwestern State University of Louisiana (NSULA) upon completion of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree at SOWELA Technical Community College and successful completion of the NCLEX-RN. Students are offered individualized plans with online courses to complete the BSN degree. Interested students are encouraged to contact NSULA’s RN to BSN Program Director for further information.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette

University of Louisiana at Lafayette Transfer Articulation Agreement – Bachelor of Science in Nursing

This agreement serves to facilitate transfer of students desiring to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at UL Lafayette upon completion of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree at SOWELA Technical Community College and successful completion of the NCLEX-RN. Interested students are encouraged to contact UL Lafayette’s RN to BSN Program Director for further information.
