SOWELA Hosts Spring Commencement
Lake Charles, Louisiana – May 5, 2017
SOWELA Technical Community College is holding the spring commencement ceremony on Tuesday, May 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Lake Charles Civic Center Coliseum. Approximately 287 students are eligible to graduate and receive degrees or diplomas, or participate as completers in the Economic and Workforce Development programs.
Graduation includes the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps conducting a Presentation of Colors, Ms. Carolyn Hasty singing the National Anthem, and Rev. Weldon Bares offering the invocation. Mr. Timothy W. Hardy, Chair of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Board of Supervisors, will serve as the commencement speaker. Ms. Willie Mount will be in attendance also representing the LCTCS Board of Supervisors.
Two SOWELA alumni members will participate in this year’s ceremony: Ms. Natalie Ieyoub and Ms. Cathryn Coberly, both graduates from the Class of 2016.
