Lake Charles, Louisiana – May 16, 2017
Heather Smith, Finance Administrative Coordinator at SOWELA Technical Community College, received the Customer Service Star Award for the Spring 2017 semester at the Annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon. SOWELA’s Customer Service Committee selects award winners from nominations submitted by faculty and staff of the College.
Those nominating Smith stated, "she goes above and beyond to help anyone in the office or students that have questions. She does multiple jobs that aren’t in her job description without complaint. Much of her work may go unnoticed by many, but she is invaluable to SOWELA. She has worked very hard to make sure that all processes continue operating smoothly and in a timely manner, and has even taken the time to train others on many student-related activities. She is an invaluable member of the Finance team, and we would be lost without her.”
"Ms. Smith cares deeply about SOWELA’s mission and can always be counted on to not only fulfill her assigned responsibilities with excellence, but also to do whatever is necessary to keep the Student Accounts Office running smoothly. She understands the critical role she plays in helping SOWELA students achieve their educational goals. This award serves as a testament to her success in fulfilling that role,” said SOWELA Vice Chancellor of Finance Jeanine Newman.
